“Questions of the History of World Architecture” is a peer-reviewed Open Access academic periodical, one of the leading journals in the field of the history and theory of architecture. Its articles represent the most recent work in the field: they cover all eras in the development of world architecture and town planning, with a focus on vexed questions of history, architectural creativity, the origins of architectural forms, as well as on the interactions between regional traditions.

The periodical has been published since 1961 by the Scientific Research Institute of Theory and History of Architecture and Urban Planning (NIITIAG), branch of the Central Institute for Research and Design of the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation. It is published twice annually since 2016.

Naming and content of rubrics in the publication correspond scientific disciplines and groups of scientific specialties conforming to the Nomenclature of scientific specialties, upon which the academic degrees are conferred and which was approved on 25.02.2009 by the order № 59 of Russia Ministry of Education and Science (in the wording of Orders of that Ministry of 11.08.2009 № 294, of 16.11.2009 № 603, of 10.01.2012 № 5, of 20.02.2015 № 114):

Publication ethics
Editors, authors and publisher adopt the guidelines, codes to conduct and best practices developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Editors commit themselves to be guided by the principles of objectivity and validity. The editorial decisions should not be affected by the origins of the manuscript, including the nationality, ethnicity, religion, political beliefs, race, sex or sexual orientation of the authors.
Editors are responsible for everything published in the collection.
 

The peer review process:

the managing editor removes the name and affiliation of the author and sends each article to two Reviewers;

the managing editor informs the Reviewers on everything that is expected of them, including the criteria of evaluation, the confidentiality and the ethic norms;

on the base of receiving two reviews to the Editors who thereupon make their decisions on whether to reject or accept articles with or without any amendments;

Authors are informed about the outcome of their submission;

Editors seek to exclude competing interests and require that the Reviewers disclose any potential competing interests before agreeing to review a submission;

reviews are kept by Editors and can be sent to the Authors upon request (without the name and affiliation of the reviewer).

Selection criteria for the publication of articles

The main criterion is the high quality of research work attested by the peer review. The most important aspects are:

  • novelty, originality and topicality: preference will be given to papers containing new evidence or new approach to a certain problem already known in the field;
  • high level of research methodology: mastering different approaches, use of scholarly literature in the field, convincing argumentation, clarity of conclusions;
  • substantial and adequate presentation of research results in the abstract.

The Editorial board will not consider submissions not relevant to the scope of edition, neither late submissions, nor texts not conforming to the guidelines for publication.

The Publishing house “Nestor-Historia” was founded in Saint-Petersburg (Russia) in 2002. Priority of the publishing is the publication of scientific and popular scientific literature in the field of Humanities.
